4:23p By the way...
It's November 8. It's not supposed to be warm enough outside to romp around in a tank top and shorts.
Fall in the midwest is so weird. A couple of days ago it was just barely above freezing and I had to scrape my windshield.
Not that I'm complaining, it's just hard to put away summer clothes while the temps are still bouncing around!

My conservatives will be happy to know that Dan Halloran was voted into city council in Queens, NYC. The first open pagan to get into any office, and a conservative Republican to boot. :) He is part of the nice Theodish group I met last fall. If I look through Google, the liberal news was very quick to focus on the possibilities of him being racist, since some white supremacists are attracted to Norse paganism. I suppose if he was a liberal Wiccan, they would have sang a different tune. On the other side of the spectrum, the GOP were the tolerant bunch and former Governor Pataki happily endorsed him.
When I met his group last year, being a mixed race person, I was worried about them possibly being white supremacists, especially traveling to a part of Queens I'd never been to by myself. But Dan's group were quite hospitable and hilarious, and assured me that there are very few racists in Theodish or Asatru. While these religions are considered "ancestral," anyone who feels strongly drawn to it are accepted.

2:01p random things
1. Franklin College has an organic food buffet for $7 that always includes nonfat FroYo. Today's flavor was Mounds Bar. Mm.
2. Rivers Cuomo wrote one of the songs on Adam Lambert's new album. As if I weren't already excited enough! His first single is so danceable! It's going on my workout mix.
3. I almost started crying while reading one of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's love sonnets to my class. Predictably, it was "How do I love thee, let me count the ways..." Tomorrow is Tennyson's "Ulysses" and I fear I'll have the same problem.
4. My mental "happy place" is next summer's trip to Europe. Other than the Netherlands, I don't know where else I'm going. But I kind of want to travel about. For like a month. Why not--I have the summer off! I guess I'll need to save up more money, though.
5. Can we just HAVE GAY MARRIAGE RIGHTS NOW? What is the EFFING PROBLEM!?! GIVE IT.

1:15p LiveJournal Major Notes: Spam counter-attack, RSS feeds again, CSI Deadly Intent contest

The empire strikes backIn recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.
RSS feeds againIf you're addicted to , icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

 ( I get by. )
I used to have time, now I have deadlines and I'm dead weight- always tired, always running back and forth over the same three blocks. I'm beat. I'm stalling; my screen is clean, my recorder has batteries, I even have a brilliant idea for my art history paper. But I'm so lazy, I am finding ways to procrastinate with what little time I actually have
On the bright side, I'm making some awesome art. I saw the Dodos last week. Taco Tuesday has been instated, officially. Things are good.
